Help Tara recover from her spinal cord injury

If you know Tara Dillon, there’s no question her kindheartedness and compassion are immediately apparent.  She is also one of the strongest and unselfish women I know.  Who else packs up her bags and moves from MA to CA to help her only child follow a dream?  We have
been friends for over twenty years and although we’ve had our share of fun, Tara has had her share of medical emergencies. She is not the type to boast or even ask for help when it’s needed.  She’s stubborn that way.  Helping others is one of her most prized qualities as she has
been an RN for close to thirty years!  But, now is the time that Tara needs our help again

When Tara had her cardiac surgery on 7/8/18 at Cedars Sinai in California, we set up a Go Fund me page to help defray some of the costs associated with that episode. Through the generosity of many friends and family, we were able to help her with these expenses as she
recovered. Tara resumed working as a RN case manager in Los Angeles and then she moved home back to Massachusetts in 2019. After
moving to California her daughter Kristina really missed her old school in Sandwich and Tara agreed to take them both back home. Kristina has thrived in her new school and graduated this month from high school. Kristina will be off to college in the fall.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck again for Tara 5/24/21 when she sustained a fall at home and fractured her cervical 4 and 5 vertebrae. Tara was immediately hospitalized and transferred to a trauma center in Boston. On 5/26/21, she underwent an emergency laminectomy and
fusion of C3 to C7. She was discharged from the hospital on 6/10 and is now in an acute care rehabilitation center. She currently remains in this setting on a ventilator and will require several months of intensive rehabilitation. She is unable to move her legs and left arm but does has very limited use of her right arm. Long term prognosis and ability to walk is not foreseeable in the next 12 months and only time will tell. Additionally her ability to continue her work as an RN Case Manager at Cape Cod Hospital is not likely for the next 12 months. To make matters even worse, Tara does not qualify for short term disability insurance due to her last medical crisis two years ago and long term
disability is not available yet. With no income coming in, she will be unable to pay her monthly bills and will need funds for a plethora of
medical adaptive equipment that she will need  (motorized wheel chair, transportation, medical supplies, and bathroom equipment for
starters).

We are a collective group of Tara’s friends that has come together again to reopen this Go Fund me page.  Assisting us in this campaign is
Tracey Alberti who is Tara's sister.  Tracey will be making sure that her monthly expenses and medical bills are paid as Tara is unable to        manage this task at this time.  Many have been asking “how can I help”.   We can help to ease some of her financial burden by making a
donation to help Tara at this very crucial time. Please remember that no donation amount is too small.

We thank you for your thoughts and prayers over the last weeks Tara needs our help more than ever and let’s pull together and help her
now.
