Hello

My name is Tara Renee Gregory. My son, Omar, fell ill from a strep infection and had to have surgery on his hand and knee. He has been out of work since the first week of March. Yesterday he was discharged from the hospital and transferred to a rehab hospital where he will remain for about two weeks. It is expected that he will be out of work for as long as 2 or 3 months. I am paying more of the bills but I am on disability and it is not enough to cover food costs. We have applied for food stamps but it can take a month to be approved, IF we are eligible. When Omar is able to do things on his own and/or return to work, I would like to start applying for jobs. Hearing aids would help increase my chances of being hired. I have Medicare but it doesn't cover the cost of hearing aids. I also have Medicaid but it requires me paying a spend down of $424 (like a premium) every month if I want full coverage. I have an appointment on 4th of May for a hearing test with Central Institute for the Deaf. They will discuss hearing aid options based on the results. The doctor would have to file the paperwork with Medicaid for approval. I am not sure how long it will take for the approval process or to receive hearing aids after the approval. I would like to be able to have help to pay the $424 every month for about 3 months just in case. Total would be $1272. If more than that amount is donated, the rest will go towards bills and food. I appreciate whatever help we can get!
