Help Tara, Grace & Allie Rebuild After the Fire

We are raising funds to help the family of one of my daughter’s BEST friends. They had been having a streak of bad luck that they were hopeful had ended! Unfortunately, it did not. Today, our house caught on fire and I was told this evening that it is a total loss and the entire house will have to be gutted to the studs and rebuilt. We have the sooty clothes on our backs, and that’s pretty much it. The restoration guy told us that we’ll be able to salvage maybe 5% of our stuff, if we’re lucky. Two of my cats were shut in my bedroom and couldn’t get out and suffered severe smoke inhalation. They are in oxygen chambers at the emergency animal hospital, but the doctor I talked with tonight said she expects them to be okay. Hopefully I can pick them up tomorrow or Thursday. The other five cats escaped outside. Three of those have been found and at the hotel with us. Two are still missing. The fire started in Grace’s bedroom and spread through the wall into mine. The photos are Grace’s bedroom, my bedroom, and Grace’s door. You can see how big the fire was as the door is charred about five feet high. Our neighbors were phenomenal. One tried to put the fire out with her garden hose while we were waiting for the fire department. My sister came right away and told me that five fire companies were at my house. Another neighbor took my kitties to the emergency vet. Another lent us crates and containers

for all our animals and brought chairs and waters. Several others offered hugs and moral support. The insurance company put us in a two bedroom suite at a hotel with three of our kitties, hopefully more soon. My sister has the gecko and the turtle. We have a very long road ahead of us but we are mostly okay. I am shocked. I don’t even know what else to say. How can so many bad things happen to one family in such a short period of time? I just can’t comprehend it. My mom died in 2013, and all the things she ever gave us are gone. There’s nothing left…
