Help Tara Find Shelter and Hope
Tara Philipps is a 54-year-old woman who has fallen on hard times—and she needs our help.
Born in Belleville and a graduate of Boonton High School, Tara has called Morris County home for decades. For over 30 years, she worked tirelessly for UPS in Parsippany—until a serious injury forced her to leave the job she had dedicated most of her life to. While she briefly received disability payments, those have since stopped, and Tara has now been homeless for more than a year.
I met Tara outside Saint Peter the Apostle Church in Parsippany, where she is often found seeking peace and community. Despite her circumstances, Tara is kind, respectful, and resilient. She has no income aside from food stamps and no stable support system. She does have a phone, but keeping it charged is a daily struggle, making it hard for those trying to help her to stay in touch.
There are people advocating for Tara and working to get her placed in a shelter, but available beds are limited. In the meantime, we are hoping to raise funds to place Tara in a safe hotel room in the Parsippany area until longer-term housing can be found. Temporary lodging would be a lifeline for her while she waits for longer-term housing solutions. Our goal is $10,000.
Every donation—big or small—brings Tara one night closer to safety, dignity, and hope. Let’s come together as a community to help lift her up.
If you can't donate, please consider sharing this campaign.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
