Hello everyone,

My name is Danielle, and I'm reaching out to you on behalf of my dear friend Tara. Tara has faced numerous health challenges throughout her life due to a condition called Pectus Excavatum, which causes her breastbone to sink into her chest. She underwent corrective surgery at the age of three, followed by several other surgeries throughout her childhood and into adulthood.

he was hospitalized for 12 days due to low oxygen levels, initially diagnosed as pneumonia. Recently, Tara's health has taken a significant turn for the worse. Further investigation revealed that her Pectus Excavatum is causing her ribs to press on her heart, lungs, and other organs, severely impacting her lung function.

After countless visits and tests with specialists, Tara was referred to a thoracic surgeon, Dr. Long, at UNC Chapel Hill. Dr. Long has determined that Tara urgently needs another Pectus Excavatum surgery, along with a hernia repair surgery. Without these procedures, Tara's lung function will continue to deteriorate.

The cost of the Pectus surgery alone ranges from $60,000 to $100,000, not including the expenses Tara has already incurred from out-of-pocket costs and travel to UNC Chapel Hill. Additionally, Tara will need to take time off work for recovery, adding further financial strain.

Tara is not just fighting for her health; she is also a dedicated Front Office Manager at the Aloft Mooresville. Despite her own challenges, Tara has spearheaded the Aloft Fur-Ever Home Program, which partners with Piedmont Animal Rescue to help rescue dogs find loving homes. She has coordinated adoption events and devoted countless hours to this cause, demonstrating her selflessness and compassion.

Now, it's our turn to support Tara. The funds we raise will go towards covering her medical bills, supplies, medications, and living expenses during this challenging time. Your generosity will alleviate some of the financial burden she is facing and allow her to focus on her recovery and continue her incredible work in our community.
