Hey everyone, as Tanya’s partner, and her biggest fan, I’m sharing this…

We’re writing this from the hospital and during her first chemotherapy treatment.

It’s her words below, and I’m hoping together with you through love, laughter and support we can help Tanya live the longest and best life possible. Your support means more than you can imagine.

A few weeks ago, I went in for what was supposed to be preventative surgery.

I carry the BRCA1 gene, which puts me at very high risk for breast and ovarian cancer.

After a year of doctors encouraging me to act and one questionable ultrasound, I decided to have my ovaries removed as a preventative step.

During surgery, everything changed.

Instead of prevention, doctors discovered Stage 3 cancer that hadn’t shown up on any scans. It had already spread beyond my ovary.

I woke up in recovery, holding David’s hand, and learned that what was meant to protect my future had suddenly become a fight for my life.

I am incredibly grateful to my medical team and my gynecologic oncologist at Cedars-Sinai, who acted quickly and performed a complete hysterectomy.

Now, instead of moving forward with my life as planned, I am facing six months of chemotherapy.

Before this diagnosis, I had just closed my business after nearly a decade and was actively searching for full-time work.

That process is now on hold. My focus is entirely on treatment, recovery, and building a path forward.

This fundraiser will help cover:

• Medical expenses not covered by insurance, medical bills, and prescriptions.

• Everyday expenses during recovery.

• Basic living costs during treatment.

• Home support during weeks when chemotherapy makes day-to-day life difficult.

• Lost income.

David’s role with NASA just ended and even though he’ll be here with me, any additional support will be essential.

Asking for help does not come naturally to me, but I am learning that I can’t do this alone.
