Help Tanya Laird See Christmas 2021

Donation protected
We need at least £45,000 for Tanya to receive critical private treatments not available through the NHS that will keep her alive.

Following the discovery of bowel, ovarian and liver cancer in May 2018, Tanya has been receiving long-term palliative chemotherapy to keep her alive. Sadly, the chemotherapy is no longer working.

After much discussion with her oncology team, it was agreed that Bevacizumab - otherwise known as Avastin - would be the best option to try and keep her liver tumours under control. Alongside the Avastin, a laser surgery process known as SIRT has been recommended.

We are raising this money to cover the treatment of Avastin for two years, the cost of the treatment being administered, and one round of SIRT treatment. Neither are available to Tanya through the NHS and we now need to cover these costs privately*.

Below is more information on Tanya’s story, but every penny can make a serious difference to her life and it's quality. Without these treatments, it is deeply unlikely Tanya will survive until December this year. Please help Tanya to see Christmas 2021.

We appreciate every penny, cent, and social share, and we need this money to continually grow as treatment has already started and we need to ensure we can cover it monthly.

If you know of any charities that can help support costs, we would love to be introduced to them.

Much love, Team Tanya

The recommended course of treatment for Avastin is two years at a total cost of £26,956.80 while the cost of SIRT treatment is £20,000 per round with a minimum of two rounds recommended bringing the total cost for these life-saving treatments £60,956.80.

More on Tanya and Her Journey

Despite an unexpected turn with a terminal stage 4 bowel cancer diagnosis in mid-2018, which was also present in her ovaries and liver, Tanya has tried to take her friends and family on her journey through her Facebook blog “How I Live Now ”.

Using her blog as a platform Tanya shares her fashion choices #chemofashion every time she visits the hospital for chemo. Her belief that dressing for the job at hand contributes to a positive frame of mind. After 55 cycles of chemo, Tanya has built a strong community of fellow cancer patients and caregivers.

Sharing her experiences via her blog helps Tanya cope with the highs and lows of living with Stage 4 Terminal Cancer. Tanya is hoping that the support and kindness of strangers will be what allows her to extend her life and see another Christmas (her favourite holiday)
