I have a very rare bone cancer that was discovered when I was 9 years old. My tumors can appear anywhere and at any time, and in 2022, some even appeared in my skull. I’ve had surgery and radiation therapy, which caused me to lose all hearing in my left ear. Later, I developed inflammation in the hearing nerves of my right ear, and although medication helped me regain most of my hearing, it has diminished over the years. Now, my only option is a cochlear implant, but my insurance only covers part of the cost. I work as a cook in a deli, so coming up with the remaining amount quickly is difficult.
Getting this implant wouldn’t restore my hearing completely, but it would allow me to be part of conversations again, instead of just nodding along. I used to sing and really miss being able to hear music. The implant would help me reconnect with people and the things I love.
I’m not normally one to ask for help like this, but I’m asking. Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated. I’ve been fighting this cancer since I was 9, and I refuse to let it win!
