My name is Ilse Mindling and I am starting this GoFund page for my dear friend Tanya Nguyen-Do.
Tanya and I met a few years ago at her business, Artistica Spa in North Port Fl. I was immediately drawn to Tanya by her warm, always positive and happy demeanor.
Tanya needs our help. The costs of Tanya's treatments and specialist have risen to the point that it has become impossible for her to cover those costs.
Here is Tanya's Story:
"I came to USA at the age of 15 as a refugee after the Fall of Vietnam. I am so appreciative what the new land has offered me: freedom, education and many opportunities. I learned to embrace my new life with a promise to myself "Always remember where you came from, and do not forget to pay forward as life continues ...
Faith brought us to Florida, family of three, my husband and I opened Artistica Day Spa in North Port 2007, we were happy with our new life even though there were so many challenges along the way. In 2012, my husband suffered an illness which took 3 operations during the 2 years before he completed recovery. I was very happy to see him back in good health.
Then one day, I found myself out of breath and I almost fainted at Publix. I drove myself to the ER and they sent me home with a diagnosis of Hypertension.
The symptoms continued to haunt me so I made an appointment with the new doctor, after few tests, I was diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma(Blood cancer) in 2014.
My cancer can be treated, unfortunately I can not be cured. I have been treated at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. I went from one treatment to the next, hoping I will be cured knowing it was false hope...
My birthday came in March, the same day I had my appointment with my Doctor. He looked at me so sad to let me know that all my treatments had failed completely. My Lymphoma has been transformed to an aggressive B Cell. He recommended for me to meet with the Bone Marrow Transplant Team very soon. No words can express my feelings right now... tears, and tears....
I met with the Bone Marrow Transplant Team, so much information, many risks. So overwhelming, so many questions, I can fight any storm, but this is a Tsunami coming my way. I remember, my doctor said " you need to kick, swim, fight to overcome this Tsunami, we do the treatment and we need to fight hard otherwise it won't work."
I'm receiving strong doses of Chemo to put my cancer in remission, July will be my Re Birth month. I will do my very best to go back in my cocoon, and hope that butterfly will come out with a new perspective in life, free from cancer.
If I was asked by God when I want to eat my cake, I would say please let me save my cake for last, when I am at my most vulnerable and it is most needed. Maybe this is the time, I am in need to have that cake to give me the cure, and give me back to my family and especially my 15 years old son Ethan whom I love so very much."
