Update on Tanya, Christopher, and Ama:
Hi Everyone,
First off, thank you so much for the outpouring of love, donations, and support. Your generosity has made an incredible difference in helping Tanya, Christopher, and Ama navigate this insanely challenging time.
Your donations have helped fund temporary housing near the school Ama is now attending given that her school is gone. Your donations have also gone toward essential day-to-day items—from basic clothing items to supplies, like a new lunch box. Your support has made all of that so much easier.
Unfortunately, their journey isn’t over yet.
It’s a long time before they can return to their home. They don’t have clean water or power at the house. Fires are actually still active in Altadena- see the new pic. There’s a long road of complex insurance claims, inspections/tests, and debris removal. Most of their neighborhood is just gone.
I’m hoping we may be able to get another round of donations to help cover them during this long haul. They’ve helped so many people - I’d love to see them get support in return.
Even the smallest contributions add up and are meaningful, if you might consider donating or sharing this fundraiser with your network.
Thank you so much!

Hi All,
I’m reaching out on behalf of my friends Christopher, Tanya, and their young daughter Ama, who have been deeply impacted by the recent devastating fires in Altadena, California.
While their home wasn’t completely destroyed, it suffered significant damage, forcing them to evacuate and stay in temporary housing. Currently, they’re living in an Airbnb funded by family members.
Unfortunately, Ama’s school was completely destroyed in the fires, disrupting her education and leaving her without her community.
Tanya, a social worker, is doing her best to stay available to her clients—many of whom are also devastated by these fires.
Of course no one plans for this kind of loss or the financial strain of being displaced. I’m asking for your help to ease their burden.
Your contributions will go directly toward:
Temporary Housing and Living Expenses: Helping them maintain a safe and stable place to stay while displaced.
Smoke Damage: Providing resources for items needing to be replaced not covered by insurance.
Insurance Deductible: Supporting them in addressing the damage to their home.
Ama’s School Community: Assisting Ama’s school as they rebuild their community.
It’s a long road to recovery and even a small donation helps. Thank you for your kindness and support during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
Karen McCain
