Help Me Travel to Support Kiara St. James in Cleveland Ohio
Dear Community,
I am reaching out with a deeply personal request for support. Kiara St. James and I have shared a friendship and advocacy partnership for over 27 years. Together, we co-founded the New York Transgender Advocacy Group and have spent more than two decades working side by side to advance protections, dignity, and equality for LGBTQ+ people throughout New York City and New York State. Kiara has always been a tireless champion for our community, dedicating her life to ensuring that others have access to safety, justice, and opportunity. Today, she is facing a profoundly difficult chapter. Kiara’s cancer has returned, and the prognosis is serious. She is currently living in Ohio with very limited support during this critical time.
I am hoping to travel to Ohio to be by Kiara’s side — to offer comfort, advocacy, companionship, and practical assistance as she navigates treatment and the challenges ahead. After decades of standing together in support of others, it is important to me that Kiara does not face this moment alone. I am seeking assistance to help cover transportation, lodging, and food expenses so that I can spend meaningful time supporting Kiara in person. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help make this possible and will allow me to focus on being present for someone who has given so much to so many.
