Tansy, the future tripod, is the sweetest stray cat in my neighborhood, and yesterday, 11/17/24, humanity failed her too many times. First, within 10 minutes of us last seeing her healthy, she came back screaming after these ruthless kids slammed her leg in a door, which caused a compound fracture to her front left leg. Four bones were exposed with bone marrow leaking out. The kids were laughing when we were looking at what they did.

In one of my less gory pictures, you can see one of her bones poking out.

Humanity failed her again when my uncle called animal control seeking help for her, and they were adamant about euthanizing her. We contacted my local SPCA, and they didn’t have any room, making animal control the only option.

No one was willing to save this baby’s life but us. We didn’t have a dime to our name, but knew she needed medical attention and decided to take her to an overnight emergency vet anyway. Once we took her there, she was failed by humanity AGAIN when the vet held her life for a $526 ransom after giving her pain meds and temporarily splinting her leg. If the bill wasn’t paid by 8:30 am, animal control was going to come and kill her.

Somehow, miraculously, no thanks to the vet, we were able to pay it with the help of a few different sources and get her back. I owe so much money now, I don’t know how I’m going to make ends meet after this terrible tragedy, and I’m a single mom to top it off.

Tansy’s life was saved last night, but she is still in grave danger if she doesn’t have this amputation. I am entirely out of resources, but am desperate to do anything to save her life. She deserves to live, especially after the cruelty she endured. I don’t know exactly how much the amputation will cost, but am starting it at $2,500 and will adjust it accordingly after I know more. I am also applying to numerous emergency vet assistance organizations, but a vet bill of this magnitude is beyond what any one source can assist with. Therefore, we are praying that individuals with anything to spare can help raise the money for Tansy’s lifesaving surgery and restore her (and our) faith in humanity.
