Help Tanpreet Heal and Reunite with Her Family After Attack

On June 22, Tanpreet’s life changed forever.

While walking home from an evening shift in Winnipeg’s Osborne Village — something she’s done countless times over the past two years — Tanpreet was brutally attacked by strangers just steps from her apartment.

They beat her, stabbed her multiple times in her back, stomach, legs, and even her left eye. They stole her phone, IDs, and credit cards — leaving her unconscious and fighting for her life.

At only 23 years old, Tanpreet has endured multiple surgeries, including one to repair the damage to her eye. Though she is alive, the physical and emotional scars from this terrifying assault will take a long time to heal.

Tanpreet came to Canada with hope for a better future, working hard to build her life. But now, she no longer feels safe. Her greatest wish is to recover and return home to India, where her family — including her mother and father — can care for her and support her healing journey.
