Hello friends, we need your help! This is something we’ve never done before and very hard to ask for. Our sweet little 3 year old maltipoo Tank had an unfortunate unexplained health emergency. Two days ago he started limping out of nowhere. We thought it might be a small sprain, however, within 3 hours he completely stopped walking and lost bowl and bladder function. We rushed him to the ER and after many tests he was diagnosed with multiple spinal cord hemorrhages causing paralysis.
Since he is so young and healthy, and mainly a stay at home dog, his surgeon couldn’t explain how this happened. He advised us that our only chance at saving Tank was to complete an immediate spinal cord surgery, if not, we would have to put him down. Completing the spinal surgery would give him a 98% chance of being able to walk again, regain bowel and bladder function, and most importantly stop the bleeding.
Tank is a big part of our family. We could not picture our life without him and we cannot picture our new baby growing up without having him to play with (they are already best friends).
We decided to complete the 4 hour surgery yesterday. Our ER Animal Hospital bill for the procedure was roughly $11,000, that we needed to pay upfront. The bill is attached for transparency.
With a new baby, and Dave and I on reduced work schedules, this unexpected bill has become very overwhelming. This does not even include the physical therapy sessions he will need for the next 2 months to relearn to walk.
If anyone wants to help our cause and help us offset this cost it would be so appreciated. Tank is home now resting, but has a long road to recovery. Our family would be forever grateful and thankful for your contribution!
