Tank was surrendered to the animal shelter by his owners on May 4th, 2024 when he stopped getting along with the other dog in the home. He lived with this family since he was born; they were all he knew. He was so shut down at the shelter that he just sat in the back of his cage all day, too anxious to trust anybody. He only had maybe 2 handlers that he would come out of his cage for. And even when we got him outside, he didn’t like to walk and was terrified being outside. He would pee and then immediately pull to go back inside his cage.

He then went to a home on October 10th only to be returned a month later when they realized he was not the right fit for their lifestyle. He got a taste of freedom just to end up back in a cage, sad and alone. That is until this one couple came along.

They came in to meet him on 3 separate occasions to make sure he could be as comfortable as possible before he went home. They took him home on December 4th and have grown to love him more and more every single day (who can blame them?). They have put so much time, energy, and effort into him, going so far as to work with a trainer, trying to work on his confidence and insecurities. He even started to like going in the backyard!! What a win! Slow and steady progress was being made until one day he was running in his backyard with the zoomies, when he yelped and started limping. They brought him to the vet where they found out he tore his ACL.

He now needs a TPLO surgery and that is very costly. They got him on pet insurance, but this happened during their grace period so it cannot be covered. They were not planning on this big expense coming up and don’t have the funds right now to pay the thousands of dollars that’s needed to ease his discomfort. That’s where this post comes in.
