HELP TANK GET BACK ON HIS FEET!
Donation protected
As many already know, my dad, David Gorey (Tank), was in a terrible motorcycle accident on the evening of July 3rd. There was no alcohol or excessive speed involved in this incident. As he rounded a corner on the Pease Hill rd. in Anson, he reported that a deer crossed the road in front of him and in trying to avoid a collision, lost control of the bike and sent him flying through the woods landing on top of a rock wall on the Dinsmore rd. He spent the entire night lying here unable to move and with no hope in site of anyone to find him as this road is not heavily traveled at night. It wasn't until early AM that a couple on their early morning walk heard his cry for help and were able to contact 911 for assistance.
After being stabilized by first responders, he was transported to Madison High School. Life Flight was able to take over at this point and transport him to EMMC where he remains at this time. Unfortunately, due to his spinal injuries from the accident, he currently remains paralyzed from the chest down, fractures along the left side of his body, as well as decreasing strength in both of his hands (of which he will also need surgery).
As you can imagine, the medical bills are going to be devastating as well and the amount of rehab he will need is going to be extensive. Anyone who knows my dad, also knows that when he is not home in Maine or North Carolina enjoying peaceful rides on his motorcycle, he is hard at work all over the world working 7 12's for Siemen's as a millwright machinist welder building turbines in power plants. He is also a very loving and loyal family member and friend. He is the kind of person that will drop whatever he is doing to help ANYONE (even a complete stranger) even if meant giving the shirt off his back or the last penny to his name.
Our goal is to get him the absolute best treatment in a specialized rehab facility. Luckily there are some available right in North Carolina so he could also be with my mom (his wife Joanne) where she primarily resides. Lets come together and help get him down there so he can receive the treatment he needs to get him back to normal as close as possible, and as soon as possible!
