Help Tanja Djurasevic Fight Stage 4 Renal Cell Carcinoma

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-hearted Supporters,

It is with a heavy heart that I reach out to you today to share the story of my friend of 30 years, my dearest Tanja.

Tanja was too proud to ask for any help but finally agreed that I share her story. I couldn't watch her go to work every day, struggle, barely being able to stand on her feet, exhausted, and still say "I'm ok, I can do it!"

Tanja is a mother of four, and a new grandma to the sweetest 1-year-old Xavier, who she adores. She has a heart ❤️ of gold, has helped everyone selflessly all her life. She is a loving, forgiving, and compassionate individual. Tanja is a true friend who has always been there for others in their times of need.

Tanja has always been a beacon of strength and resilience, even after her heartbreaking divorce. Left emotionally devastated, she worked defiantly to support herself and her family. Today she faces a daunting challenge that no one should have to endure, another battle against cancer.

In 2011, God watched over Tanja when she was involved in a car accident. She was rushed to the hospital, and during a routine scan, the doctor discovered hidden renal cancer. Her kidney had to be removed, and despite the hardships, Tanja has remained determined and positive and continues to work tirelessly to support her family.

Then, on June 14, 2024, Tanja found herself in another car accident. This time, the scan revealed a devastating truth: Stage 4 renal cancer with metastatic spread to her lungs and pancreas. The news was even more crushing as her condition is now considered inoperable. Doctors started her on immunotherapy and oral chemo, but her health has also been compromised by her chronic diabetes and DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis).

Despite the severity of her illness and the harsh side effects of the treatment, Tanja has been working two jobs--at a factory and a restaurant--to keep up with her bills. She has been too proud to ask for help, continuing to work even after her diagnosis and the accident, to make ends meet. However, her health has deteriorated significantly since starting immunotherapy. In addition to extreme exhaustion from her treatment, she has open wounds on her legs, exacerbated by her diabetes, that are not healing. Tanja had to take a short-term disability break, with the high possibility of a longer-term leave depending on therapy progress and health condition.

The financial burden on Tanja is immense. Her income has decreased drastically due to her health issues, and she is struggling to cover her medical expenses, mortgage, car payment, and daily living costs. Her treatment is ongoing and will continue for a year, with medication needed for life. Unfortunately, her insurance does not fully cover these expenses, and the prognosis includes an over 85% chance of recurrence. Her treatment will be a lifelong and ongoing battle.

I am asking for your generosity to support Tanja during this incredibly difficult time. Even with all the support from her family, the financial burden of medical expenses is still too much. Your donation will help cover her medical bills, living expenses, and provide some relief as she focuses on her recovery. No amount is too small, and every bit of support will make a significant difference.
