Tanis Purvis' life-saving Cancer Fight & Recovery

Donation protected

On January 19, 2021, Tanis and Rob got the shock of a lifetime. Again.

No one can prepare you for receiving a diagnosis of cancer. Tanis is only 44 years old and has been diagnosed with endometrial cancer. Her cancer returned, and has spread throughout her abdomen. We all believed her cancer journey ended in 2016, but we were wrong. Receiving this major news that none of us were prepared to hear, was a complete shock.

Tanis is a wife, a sister, a daughter, an aunt, a dog mum, and an amazing step mother to 3 of her own children (Tyson, Ryder, and Camryn) as well as a child care provider to 5 other wonderful children. Most of you know Tanis’ husband as Rob from Stone City Woodworks. Rob will have to take a step back from his role as an entrepreneur himself to help care for the family while Tanis fights her way through this awful disease. Rob has always been a supportive member of the woodworking community on Instagram and now we can support him as well.

In 2016, Tanis started her first cancer fight and recovery when she was first diagnosed with uterine cancer. To save herself, she underwent a hysterectomy. She healed and believed her cancer fight was now over. She was a survivor.

Removing the uterus surgically often cures endometrial (uterine) cancer.

Sadly her journey is continuing and she's in for the fight of her life. She has already gone through multiple tests, scans, biopsies, and appointments. Since we are already in tough times, we would like to take some of the financial burden off this amazing family.

Tanis’ battle began Wednesday Jan 27th with her first chemotherapy session. She will undergo chemotherapy for the next 5 months, in hopes that the cancer can be beaten. She is determined to beat this, and even sent me pictures of her receiving her treatment, with a big smile (under her adorable mask). Even during this time, where most people would go dark, become negative, mad at the world, Tanis continues to be her upbeat, positive, fun-loving self that we all know and love.

Tanis has helped and cared for others for over 20 years. From keeping the students and staff of Queen’s University safe in her role as a security supervisor to when she decided to take a leap into opening her own business as a daycare provider, she has always put others first. Her caring nature, selflessness, and sense of community comes naturally to her, and it's why when people meet her, they instantly love her. Her attitude and being is infectious.

Tanis’ journey is going to be long, with lots of ups and downs. This would be a financial strain on any of us, in addition to the Covid-19 pandemic, but as a self employed daycare provider, this is an added stress that we as a community can help alleviate.

We are asking everyone to please take a moment and say a prayer for my sister (in law) and brother. Tanis is beautiful in so many ways. Every day she cares for others… now let’s do this for her.

Please take a moment and donate what you can.  The funds will help with unforeseen costs, such as medication, treatments, aids, & things such as air purifiers, etc. to make her home safe during her Chemo, & other expenses/bills. For a household run by two small business'/ entrepreneurs, your contribution will help give Rob and Tanis the ability to focus on their family and her recovery. If you can’t donate financially even a simple share on social media would be much appreciated.

Tanis is going to put up the fight of her life, lets all get in her corner and fight back against this terrible disease.

Thank you for taking a moment and reading this.
