Help Tanglecolors Cure Her Cat and Maybe Buy a Car

Hello,
Most of you know me as tangle or tanglecolors! The two main purposes of this fundraiser are to help me fix my cat (who I affectionately call creachur), and possibly purchase a used car.

Around November-ish 2024 I noticed something was a bit off about my cat. She stopped eating her food, but would go after the other cat's food and my and my at the time roommates food aggressively. She had consistent diarrhea, and was peeing outside of her litter box which is not common for her. I also noticed that she wasn't keeping on weight very well despite the fact that she had access to her food bowl 24/7. So I decided to take her to the vet. They were able to determine that she was severely dehydrated and anemic--non-regenerative anemia in particular which means her blood cells were not replenishing themselves. I bought her a pet fountain to encourage her to drink more water, and she was put on several medications, an iron supplement, a calorie paste to get her weight up, and some sort of steroid and other medications to rule out any other causes that may have been missed.

After that all the testing was just to determine the cause--she was tested for several parasites, cancer and etc. Nothing was particularly conclusive but she did test positive for bartonella, which is apparently a very common blood parasite in cats. The vet thought it was worth trying to treat that as a main source of her anemia. He was confident that this was the cause as the last visit I had with him he reported that her blood cells were replenishing at a rate that was way higher than previous visits.

Shortly after I moved Feb of 2025, and started seeing a new vet. I booked a checkup to see how the cat was doing and possibly get more insight into her condition. The rate at which her blood was replenishing was somehow getting worse. They decided to do more testing but keep her on her current meds and restarted on some meds that the prev vet had asked me to stop. I booked another visit and if her condition hadn't improved they were going to refer me to an internal med specialist in the next town over.

You can probably guess what happened. Her condition hadn't improved and the testing revealed nothing particularly useful. I was referred to the specialist with the appointment scheduled for April 30th 2025. They wanted to retest her to see if she still had bartonella, and other possible causes. She tested negative for bartonella which means that it was not the cause of her anemia and we were back to square one of not knowing why.

This vet bill was very expensive (about 800 dollars), and all the vet visits and medications have really taken a toll on my wallet over time. The specialist recommended taking a sample of her bone marrow as they believed that would give us definitive answers as to what is going on with the creachur. Which I do want to do but the estimate they gave me was for about 3000$ dollars which I definitely don't have. I love this cat with my whole heart and she is my best friend. We've been through so much together and I want to do whatever I can to help her. She's not particularly old (about 6 years) so I really think her odds are decent as far as doing something invasive like taking bone marrow and whatever else is needed to cure her.

The car is honestly less important to me--a friend of mine offered to sell me her car for 5k which is a completely reasonable price for the make and condition of the vehicle, but similarly to the vet visit I just don't have 5k on hand though I'm confident I can pay the insurance and gas costs. I just need help getting over the initial hurdle of purchase. It would help with the vet visits, as the clinic is about 45 minutes away and is not super accessible by public transport. A friend of mine was kind enough to lend me her car for the remainder of this month because she is unable to use it at the moment, but I'll have to return it around early June which will complicate getting to future appointments. It would honestly just help me in general as the area in which I live is not super easy to get around without a car.

That being said, the cat is more important to me right now. If we somehow raise enough to cover the cat's procedures and not the car I will just cover that and forget the car. Any additional money raised beyond the goal with go to additional vet visits, car stuff and misc expenses.

I also am taking art commissions, so if you'd rather give money that way feel free to reach out. Thank you all for your time and God bless!

Feel free to reach out with any questions and concerns and I will do my best to answer.
