Hi, my name is Tangela Williams-Spann. I’m a published author and mental health advocate who has always used storytelling to bring light to difficult experiences. But now, I find myself in the middle of the most difficult chapter of my own life.
Since January 2025, I’ve been searching for stable employment with no luck. While navigating that uncertainty, my health began to rapidly decline. In October 2024, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, a chronic illness that affects my mobility and nervous system. Just two months later, I was also diagnosed with Chronic Anemia, which adds extreme fatigue to my daily battle. I’ve been doing my best to manage—but nothing could prepare me for what came next.
In April 2025, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
This news has shaken me to my core. I am doing everything I can to stay strong and fight, but the reality is: I need help. Between doctors’ appointments, medications, treatments, and daily living expenses, the financial strain has become overwhelming. I’ve had Medicaid coverage, but it doesn’t cover everything—and I am falling behind on rent, utilities, and other essential bills.
As someone who has spent years writing about resilience, healing, and survival, it’s hard to admit that I can’t do this alone. But I believe in community—and I’m humbly asking for yours.
Your donation will help me:
Pay for uncovered medical expenses (co-pays, prescriptions, treatment travel)
Stay current on basic bills (rent, utilities, groceries)
Maintain access to care and reduce stress during this critical time
If you can’t give, I understand. Even sharing this fundraiser helps more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and consider supporting me. This chapter of my life is hard—but with your help, it doesn’t have to be hopeless.
With gratitude,
Tangela Williams-Spann
