Help TammyLynn bring Lawrence home

Hi my name is Jeannie and I am doing this fundraiser for my friend TammyLynn because after her husband surviving many types of cancer, on day two of their honeymoon, Lawrence fell asleep and never woke up again.

What started out as a honeymoon and vacation of their dreams, ended up being a nightmare nobody could have imagined.

TammyLynn sits alone in a city far away from home, far away from her support system, and close, but yet so far away from the love of her life. She sits sad, scared, angry, lonely, and unsure of when she will be reunited and able to bring the love of her life home.

She left Thunder Bay with Lawrence in his wheelchair with his support dog Phoenix by his side, but will be returning with an empty chair, a sad and confused support dog and an urn carrying the love of her life.

What started out as their 2 week train trip across the country living out a life long dream of Lawrence's since he was 7, and finally the honeymoon they anticipated until Lawrence's health allowed him to do so, ended in a way nobody could have imagined.

They boarded the train on the 7th of December full of excitement and happiness. It was a much needed break from all the immunotherapy, radiation, chemotherapy and appointment after appointment.

Lawrence seemed to suffer cancer after cancer. Testicular cancer followed by head and neck cancer, to rectal cancer, and back to neck cancer.

Money was tight, but with all they had gone through, they needed to celebrate their recent wedding vows, as well as Lawrence over coming each cancer life threw at him.

The first day was long. There was delays in Winnipeg, but finally on the 8th the train finally started moving. Lawrence was comfy in his wheelchair enjoying the clickity clack of the train ride. They had only made it about 30 miles, when Lawrence put his head down for a bit of a nap, only to never wake up again.

They started with a friendship of 15 years before realizing they were the love of each others life. They had a long 10 year relationship before deciding it was time to make it all official and get married in front of their family and friends.

Neither one ever asked for anything, but now I feel we don't have a choice. There are far too many many unknowns right now, and TammyLynn could really use our help,

TammyLynn in a city by herself, and since she and Lawrence had just got married, everything was still just in his name and now all his funds have been froze, therefore leaving TammyLynn in a financial predicament.

TammyLynn will have to pay for the cremation and urn for Lawrence as well as the trip home from Winnipeg, not to mention all of the unknowns once they are home. Is there going to be a funeral or is there going go be a celebration of life? But until we get them home and TammyLynn can talk to Lawrence's family and her family, everything is up in the air.

Tammy is able to stay at her brothers house presently, but once he is released from the hospital, she will need to find somewhere to stay because Phoenix has a job to do and unfortunately TammyLynns brother doesn't need the type of care that Phoenix was trained for.

So please I'm asking you for help. Help us help TammyLynn do everything she has to do to get back home and do whatever needs to be done.

Every little bit helps. And if you're not comfortable donating on here contact TammyLynn and she can give you another option.

TammyLynn has gone through so much in the past two years, but pushed forward because she didn't have much choice. She lost her mom, her uncle, her sister and now the love of her life. And not once did she ask anyone for help, but now it's time we do what we can do to help her. Let's show her that she's not alone, and that we love her and we care.

If you'd like to read on and learn more about Lawrence's cancer battle, continue reading. If there are errors or inconsistencies in the following, it's my fault. I didn't want to keep asking for more and more info from TammyLynn. So please forgive me if I've mixed things up. The important things are that he suffered many types of cancer and TammyLynn did all she could to take care of him.

Imagine being in your 20s and fighting through testicular cancer and coming out on the other side, cancer free.

Then this year fighting through neck and head cancer, only to be told you would never eat food again, but at least your cancer was in remission.

While at one of Lawrence's regular follow up's they discovered that he now had rectal cancer that he had to undergo chemo and radiation

If you've known anyone or know anyone who has battled cancer, then I'm asking you to read aboutthis incredible man named Lawrence (lovingly called Low or Lowie by the love of his life, his wife TammyLynn).

To know Lawrence was to love him. He was one of the kindest people you would ever meet. He was a best friend to all, and if you needed him, he was there for you. He would drop whatever he was doing to help you.

To say Lawrence was strong would be an understatement. When he was in his 20s he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. There were many complications, but fortunately he was able to overcome them, and kicked that cancers butt. He made it past that 5 year point with no further cancers, so it was kind out of his thoughts until it wasn't.

This February Lawrence was diagnosed with head and neck cancer. Although it was caught early, it was not without (can't think of word). This cancer left him unable to eat. He had to have a peg tube inserted to feed him. Through the course of treatments of chemo and radiation, it caused a loss of 115 pounds.

Lawrence saw a specialist in Toronto to see if they could remove the cancer but because it was around the carotid artery, they had to leave it where it was. So Lawrence did what Lawrence does and that was to continue to fight with concurrent chemo and radiation and never complained once. He just fought with all his might until it was all under control and in remission.

Unfortunately because of deteriorating health, Lawrence required more care than he did before, so TammyLynn took a leave from work to be there in any capacity that he needed. His income was only the CPP disability which is a pittance in comparison to working, and TammyLynn was getting just a portion of her income, but there was no other choice. TammyLynn loved Lawrence and knew it was time for her to step up and do what she had to do, and that was to care for the man she loved.

But as life often does, a curve ball was thrown at TammyLynn and it was now Lawrence's turn to help take care of her. In a very short time, TammyLynn lost her Mother, her Uncle and her sister. It was far more than one person should have to endure, but Lawrence stepped up and stepped in, and helped TammyLynn get through her heartache and loss despite all he was going through.

But as it is with cancer, your life is never the same. So while at one of Lawrence's regular follow up's, they discovered he now had rectal cancer. Unfortunately it could not be removed because of where it was, so it was being controlled with immunotherapy and chemo. And again, not once did Lawrence complain. He was a fighter and did all he could because of his desire to live, and TammyLynn did everything she needed to let him know how much she loved him and needed him.

His cancers were kept under control through immunotherapy, radiation and chemo therapy.

During another regular checkup they discovered that the cancer was back in his neck and this time it was much deeper and was between the carotid artery and the jugular. And yet he still never stopped fighting. But it was at this point they decided that Lawrence's life long dream of going across Canada on a train was going to happen. Despite cancer absorbing most of their money, they made it happen. The tickets were bought and the countdown was on. December 7th couldn't come soon enough. This was a dream since he was 7 and it was all to come true on the 7th.

TammyLynn and Lawrence boarded the train with so much excitement thinking this dream of a lifetime was about to be fulfilled.

But as we all know, not all dreams are meant to come true.
