Hello, my name is Tammy Smith. I'm trying to raise money for my family to be able to stay in our apartment. We moved in October 2024. The first night we were there, the toilet valve in the first bathroom broke and flooded the whole apartment, so we had to move everything out again and back to our old apartment for a week while everything dried and was aired out with fans and a dehumidifier.

Needless to say, I thought the apartment complex paid for everything and it was all handled. Until the first part of July, when the office manager called and wanted me to come to the office. Once I arrived, she handed me a bill for the company that came out and put fans and a dehumidifier in for $3,000, also telling me that we had to pay it because it was my fault the valve broke in my hand. I never did anything to the valve; it broke off in my hand.

Well, long story short, it has to be paid either all at once or in 4 monthly payments, which we don't have because my husband and I are both on social security disability. Also, my husband had a stroke almost 2 years ago and is still recovering from it. We also have 2 grandkids we are raising; the girl is 5 and the boy is 2. So, we don't have any extra money lying around. It takes all we have to pay the bills every month and support the grandkids. If this bill is not paid in full, we will be evicted for failure of compliance with our lease. Please consider helping me get this bill paid so we can stay in our apartment. Thanks.
