Stand by Tammy: Support Her MS Battle

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-Hearted Supporters,

Tammy King has less than a month to find somewhere to live.

She is on the verge of losing the home she shared with the love of her life — her late husband Darryl — the same home where they raised their son, built dreams, and created a lifetime of memories. Since Darryl’s sudden passing, Tammy’s world has been utterly shattered. He was not only her husband but her sole provider and caregiver, and without him, she’s been forced to face unimaginable challenges, physically, emotionally, and financially.

Tammy lives with an advanced, debilitating form of Multiple Sclerosis that has left her wheelchair-bound and entirely dependent on others for her most basic daily needs — from getting out of bed to preparing meals. Yet through it all, she remains a source of strength and warmth to those around her. Her resilience, sense of humor, and deep compassion inspire us every day.

Even while enduring such hardship, Tammy continues to think of others. She once opened her home to a former aide and her young child, only to be betrayed — the aide stole from Tammy’s bank account. But Tammy, heartbroken and financially devastated, still wrote to the judge on the aide’s behalf, asking for mercy and describing her as a good person who had simply made a terrible mistake. That’s the kind of heart Tammy has.

Tammy is always ready to listen, to uplift, and to find the good in people. She carries everyone’s burdens with grace. But now she carries her own heartbreak alone.

Despite limiting her usage of her aides — and spending long, unsafe hours alone at home just to save money — Tammy’s expenses are overwhelming. The rising cost of home care, medical transportation, therapy, medications, and daily living in New Jersey has far surpassed her limited income. She is already sacrificing her own safety and independence,

Her teenage son, now in college, can no longer be supported financially by Tammy — something that once gave her such pride. And the thought of relocating to a remote area where proper care is inaccessible is terrifying.

We, Tammy’s care team, have become more than just her aides — we are her family. We’ve shared laughter and tears, late nights and long days, and through it all, Tammy has been our guiding light. But even heroes need help.

We are asking for your support — to help Tammy stay in her home, continue receiving the care she desperately needs, and preserve the dignity she deserves.
