Help Tammy Keep Her Home and Fight Cancer

My name is Tammy. I’m 64 years old. I worked hard all my life starting at age 15 at McDonald’s, then at C & P Telephone Co., then Giant Food grocery store for 25 years, and finally working as the Office Manager for a psychologist at Family Therapy Associates when I retired on Social Security Disability in 2017.

I have been struggling for the past six years trying to make ends meet. I lost all my savings and only had a small IRA, losing those funds as well just trying to pay my monthly bills. My husband and I separated and divorced. It was mutual and we remain friends however I fell on very hard times as the years went by.

Then, having to go into bankruptcy last July 2023. As of today, my mortgage is $5000 in arrears due to the fact I could not maintain my bankruptcy payments each month. Therefore, I fell behind, and now the mortgage that had been incorporated in the bankruptcy is behind as well. I was notified Friday the bankruptcy will be dismissed and then I will face foreclosure.

The most recent hardship is finding out last Friday, the 23rd of August, that I have cancer. It’s called Multiple Myeloma. It is not curable but can be treated. I start chemotherapy next week, but the treatment is very expensive. Luckily, my insurance will cover most, and I was happy to find out I was given a grant to cover the copay. Praise Jesus for this blessing.

So all that being said, I only make $30K per year and it’s not enough. I have always been independent and been able to take care of myself, but life has thrown me a series of hard balls lately and I’m going to lose my home and not be able to try to fight this health issue without some help. I abhor having to ask for assistance. That’s just not me. I’ve always been the one helping others all my life. Now I need help.

Also, I took in a roommate last year and sadly this person is having money problems and what she does pay isn’t helping.

I know things are tight for everyone now. Inflation is terrible. But if you can help me with any amount, it will be greatly appreciated. I really wish there was another way, but I don’t come from a wealthy family and they’ve helped me to the point they are all living paycheck to paycheck.

In closing, to anyone who feels in their hearts they can help with any amount, please know I’m praying for you as well. I pray every day and I know God will provide support and be by my side through this health problem and financial distress. I’m trying hard to keep my faith strong and trust my Heavenly Father, but some days are harder than others.

I hope some can donate. Like I stated earlier, this is a hard ask for me.
