On Sunday, February 28 Aiyana was rushed to the emergency room as she was having a difficult time recognizing family members and was in and out of consciousness. She was immediately transferred to Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracusewhere she has undergone extensive testing.
On Tuesday, March 2, Aiyana went into a catatonic state where she was not responding to simple stimuli. Over the next few days while testing continued, the medical teams were able to get small responses using heavy narcotics. At this time, while the medical teams continue testing, they have been unable to diagnose the problem. Tomorrow, the teams will be meeting with her parents and will be discussing further testing options and a potential transfer to MassGeneral Hospital for Children in Boston.
Tammy and Jota have been staying in Syracuse due to frequent changes with Aiyana’s condition. This is causing undue financial hardship for them as they have not been able to work in addition to the daily expenses including hotel, food and parking.
With financial responsibilities mounting and and an uncertain road ahead, we are asking for your help. Please consider making a donation so the family can focus on their child’s care.
