Help Tamika So She Can Help Others

Tamika Domond is a 26-year-old student at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, in the Accelerated Nursing Program, but she is now fighting for her life.
Her love for children has enabled her to touch our lives. Her dream to work with children started at 17 as a counselor at the ESF summer camp at Greenwich Academy. She then worked at Bright Horizons Day Care in Stamford teaching children as well as Carousel Preschool in Norwalk. Over 15 years, Dr. Neil Floch mentored her for a career in healthcare as she volunteered at his office and observed surgeries at Norwalk Hospital. In her 26 years, she has touched the lives of countless children in many communities, including Greenwich, Bridgeport, and Stratford, Connecticut, where she lives.
Tamika was weeks away from graduation when she fell gravely ill while traveling with her family in Florida. She developed confusion, seizures, and fell into a coma. The doctors at Tampa General Hospital discovered that she had a rare tumor that caused an unusual disease with severe encephalitis. Although the surgeons at Tampa General Hospital removed the tumor, the recovery from the encephalitis is expected to take 12-18 months. Tamika has a long fight ahead of her, but with much help, she has a good chance to recover. As of now, Tamika remains on a ventilator and has been in a coma for the past two months.
Her mother, Lupcie Domond remains in Tampa and sits by her bedside every day. Funds are running low for her room rental near the hospital. When she is stable, there is a medical flight that will transport her from Florida to a hospital in Connecticut so that she may be near her home and family. In addition to her many medical expenses, we must also raise money for the jet fuel for the medical flight to bring Tamika home to the support system she needs to recover. We need your help to bring Tamika back and become the nurse she had planned to be so that she may help others.
All donations will be given to Tamika and her family to assist with medical bills, jet fuel, living expenses for her mother, and Tamika’s rehabilitation.
