On behalf of my mother, Tamie Vanhorn, I am reaching out to family and friends in this time of great need. Sadly, Tamie is suffering from stage 4 COPD, Parkinson's disease, spinal stenosis deterioration and ortheo arthritis. As you can imagine, these illnesses result in much suffering and expense. Tamie is forced to be on oxygen constantly and takes many medications on a daily basis. The stenosis deterioration and Parkinson's disease prevent her from being able to walk or stand on her own, requiring consistent assistance with her daily functions.
To make matters completely worse, she finds herself facing an unwanted divorce from a husband of 21 years. The devastating reality has forced Tamie to make some life altering decisions. Due to the fact that Tamie needs in-home care, we have decided it would be best for her to move from Kansas to California and live with me. Here, she will be around family who loves her. She will also receive the in-home care which is needed.
Our dilemmas in making this a reality are many. The medical insurance she currently has holds a $7000 deductible. At this point, all doctors visits, medications, medical supplies and oxygen tanks are out-of-pocket expenses. In order to move Tamie to California, she needs to buy an oxygen concentrator, purchase medications and other medical supplies and pay for travel expenses. When she arrives in California, she will have out-of-pocket medical and care-taking expenses until her California insurance activates, which could take months.
I know these are very unsettling times for everyone. The heartbreaking situation Tamie finds herself in is only exasperated by the pandemic. We would be so grateful for any contribution to help Tamie in her desperate time of need. Thank you all for your time and prayers and God bless you all.
