My name is Tamica Taddicken, and I am fighting against the loss of my disability benefits. I have stage 4 Adrenocortical carcinoma, a rare one in a million, aggressive cancer diagnosis. My disease is not curable, and there is a recurrence rate of 100%. However, my cancer journey has times that the cancer cannot be detected, then it comes back to any random place in my body. This means that my life-saving frequent scans could, at any time, show my cancer has spread unexpectedly; as it has before in the past. In tandem with the cancer diagnosis, I have immunodeficiencies that require transfusions to manage that I receive here in Idaho. I travel to the Utah Huntsman Cancer Institute monthly, finances permitting, for my treatment management as well as a lidocaine infusion for pain, that have made a life changing difference for me. The cost of my ongoing treatment is not something any normal person could pay for. As of January 2025, I received notice that my disability benefits and Medicare had been terminated. Having a stage 4 diagnosis at twenty-seven can be complicated because I don't present like the "stereotypical cancer patient" between occurrences, even though treatment is ongoing. With these new changes, I have lost my financial security, and the foundation to receive care for my diagnoses. I am fighting to get my benefits back. Standard disability lawyers will not take my case because I am working on an appeal and not an initial request. The light at the end of this tunnel is that I have finally found a lawyer who will help me with my case but has advised me to have at least 1k ready for his services. Funds from this fundraiser will go directly to lawyer fees. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and if you feel called, prayer is always welcomed and encouraged. God Bless.
