My friend Tami is a kind, hardworking woman who has devoted her life to caring for her aging parents. Now she's facing unimaginable loss and financial hardship after the sudden death of her father.
Tami has lived with and cared for her parents for years. Her mother is currently in a rehab center trying to recover from serious illnesses, including C-diff, pulmonary embolism, and shingles. Her father had been mostly wheelchair bound after multiple back surgeries and Covid complications. but he did his best to care for his wife.
Just over a week ago, Tami came home from work and noticed her father wasn’t on the porch with her cat, waiting to greet her as he always did. She went inside and found him on the floor of his bedroom, gone. He had apparently fallen while trying to get up and struck his head on a dresser. By the time she found him, he had already passed away. It was a heartbreaking and traumatic moment no daughter should ever have to experience.
To make things even harder, when Tami began sorting through her father’s affairs, she discovered that Ron had made several poor financial decisions that she had known little about. He had stopped paying on his funeral plan and let his life insurance lapse. Years earlier, he had persuaded Tami to take out a loan in her name of over $60,000 for him, since his credit was bad. He promised her he'd repay it all, but she didn't get a penny. She’s been struggling to pay that debt ever since, with wage garnishments taking a large portion of her small paycheck.
Tami works in the supply department at a hospital — an entry-level job that barely covers her basic needs. With her father gone, her mother in rehab, and mounting financial pressure, she is losing her parents’ rented home because she simply can’t afford it on her own. She has always been the one to take care of everyone else — now it’s her turn to be cared for.
Your generous donation will help to pay off the debt incurred by her dad so that the garnishing of her wages will stop. Then, she can hopefully find a small place to rent that she can afford, and begin rebuilding her life.
Every dollar will go directly to helping Tami rebuild her life and find some stability after an overwhelming year of loss and hardship. Tami has carried the weight of caring for her parents with grace, patience, and love. She never asks for help — but right now, she truly needs it. If you can donate, even a little, it will make a huge difference. If you can’t, please share her story to help spread the word.
Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support.
