Hello everyone, my name is Tameisha Byrd. I am a 38-year-old mother of three children. I recently had to have a right frontal craniotomy to get rid of a fistula that posed potential danger as I have two brain aneurysms. This surgery took place on December 22 with only weeks to prepare. I was in the hospital from December 22 to December 24 and then was readmitted from December 26 to December 29 for post-surgery complications. My recovery time will be at least 3 to 6 months.
I am humbly coming to peers I know and don’t know for help while I get through this. I will need help with bills, transportation for medical appointments, and to transport my kids to their engagements since they are in school and play sports and other extracurricular activities. Since I am unable to drive, it will help with meals, house cleaning, babysitting fees, and other items I will need during this recovery time as I have a five-year-old daughter who is not in kindergarten yet, so I can rest when needed.
This is going to be a long and hard recovery journey, and I’m just hoping that it can be made easier with the kind help of others. I wasn’t working because my health was rapidly declining, so I don’t have the ability to withdraw from short-term disability, and all the programs that I have inquired about have long-standing waitlists for help. Anything and everything helps.
Thank you and humbly,
Tameisha Byrd
