Hi all, Tamara here. I hate feeling like I have to resort to this platform, but I'm hoping to get some help in a time of need.
A few months ago, I was transported from work to the Emergency Room for shortness of breath and nausea. I had been experiencing several unpleasant symptoms since my husband and I returned from working abroad-- persistent headaches, intense and often debilitating nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dehydration, and diarrhea. I figured that I was adjusting to the change in diet, as food is processed and regulated differently in Europe. Unfortunately, the symptoms not only persisted for several weeks, they had escalated in intensity and frequency.
I changed my diet, took probiotics, and spoke to friends in the medical field for solutions that did not involve going to a doctor. My work does not currently offer health insurance, and I do not qualify for Medicare, so even though I was getting worried enough to go to the hospital, I knew I could not support the decision financially. I knew that identifying the problem would require several tests, some of which could cost thousand of dollars without insurance. I had started saving to go to Tijuana and have tests done there to save time and money. I had only barely started saving money before my condition worsened, and my mother begged me to go to the Emergency Room because of the troubling symptoms.
While the ER visit proved that I was going to make it for the rest of the day, the doctors STRONGLY suggested that I make an appointment with a general practitioner and begin testing with specialists as quickly as possible. I am still experiencing all of the pain and sickness, causing me to miss work when I can't break away from the bathroom. I have no clue what is happening to me, have no idea how to stop it, and don't have the money to start this journey.
As it stands, I owe about $5,000 for the ER visit. $1,005.00 is due to CEP America immediately, while the remaining $4,107.00 can be paid slowly via a payment plan. I do not expect to receive $5,000 from friends and family, but after paying around $500 for medical bills already, and on top of our car requiring multiple repairs, I have absolutely nothing left to pay the urgent bill, or make it to Tijuana for tests.
I have never asked something of this nature, and am honestly embarrassed to do so-- I did my best to save and pay what I could, but I am completely overwhelmed. I do not know how to cover groceries and rent completely for this month, much less an urgent $1,000 medical bill and additional funds for a possible diagnoses. I've been a wreck trying to figure out how else I can make ends meet, but I am already working full time and working a second job on writing gigs as well.
If I could assemble $2,5000, I could pay off the urgent bill in full, put a good start on the $4000+ bill, and make a few appointments to go to Mexico for testing.
I am willing to trade for help as well. When I am not working my day jobs, I can clean, cook, babysit, petsit, paint you a commissioned piece, read your tarot cards-- anything within my power, I am happy to do for you.
Regardless of how this goes, I appreciate all of you for reading. Anything you can give will help, and you would have my infinite gratitude. I love you all.
