Tam shares so much love with everyone who walks into Animal. Now it's our turn to give some back. She doesn't just serve as the bouncer at Animal NYC but also as a pillar in the NYC gay community. With a constant smile and positive energy, she often talks about how she gets so much energy because of what the community at Animal gives her. Yet as anyone who has been there knows, Tam is a light unto herself, and it's us who have felt the illustrious energy Tam shines on all who come to Animal to celebrate.

As a Black trans woman, she is no stranger to adversity, but here is one where we as a community can help support Tam through. In May, Tam was attacked outside Animal by two individuals. The two were drunk and causing a ruckus, and Tam, in self-defense as a trained bouncer, injured her assailants. They now feel entitled to have Tam pay their medical debts and have taken her to court. Tam has hired a medical lawyer to help with her case but needs our support to help cover the cost of these legal fees.
