Help take Nora to Juilliard!

Donation protected

Hey Ya'll I need your help!

I am reaching out because, as everyone knows, Grad School can
be expensive. I would hate for money to be the only obstacle preventing me from achieving my dreams.

Though there are scholarships and financial aid, tuition is $165,000
for the four years I will be studying there, not counting additional expenses. Any financial help is welcomed.

Juilliard is widely regarded as one of the top
drama schools in the world, with alumni such as Viola Davis,
Adam Driver, Robin Williams, and many more. The intensive training is six days a week
from 9 am-10 pm; however, it will mold me and open doors to endless possibilities.

THE JOURNEY...
Here is a fraction of my journey.
I was born in Cuba and raised in Miami. I grew up in a Hispanic church full of musicians
and artists; they cultivated my love for acting and singing. I was always drawn in by the arts and the way it allowed me to express what I felt was fundamental to my form of being. I spent my adolescence organizing and acting in plays. It was something I felt I was called to do, giving me a sense of purpose.

I pursued it as a career and got my BFA at FIU. By this point in my life, I felt everything was figured out and planned to the T. After this, I got married and settled down. I was working as a drama teacher in a middle school ( that I love) I did what we are told to do. Be stable.

Yet stability is not always good and the discomfort of change can
sometimes be a crucial growing pain to become who you are.

God, had other plans for me other than being a teacher. I got divorced earlier this year, though looking back, it was exactly what was needed to push me forward. Even though in the moment it felt as if all the reliable mundane stability seemingly dissipated like a collapsing building; it was a mess.

But it seemed like destruction was a form of creation in my life and completely rerouted my life for the best. I decided that instead of wallowing in self-pity, I would fight hard to do what I have always wanted. Therefore, I moved away from my family in Miami to New Jersey alone. I left behind everything that I once knew. I left my job, my family, my friends. I got a job as a teacher in New York and ironically it was in front of Julliard.
I felt as if the last couple of months in my life were leading towards this. I applied, and boy, was it tough. I went to countless auditions and callbacks, every time feeling like all was in control.

It was a very uncertain experience, but I felt like it was meant to be. After what seemed like a never-ending audition, I was later accepted into The Juilliard School of Drama for my MFA!

It has been surreal.

So now it feels like the journey, the new chapter, is just taking off, and I can't do it without you.

Anything helps. If you know me, you know my heart, my work ethic, and how long it has taken to get here.
I appreciate you all.

Thank you for taking the time.
Much much love,
Nora
