Help: Evicted Student Needing Assistance Towards Balance

Hi, my name is Tajahnay Hollins, a rising Senior of Clayton State University, who recently was evicted on August 7, 2025 at 3 pm.

Update: In light of me addressing the issue previously on 11 Alive News, this past June, the institution paused evictions for all students facing evictions until “further notice”. However, without any prior notice(s), verbal or electronic, CSU’s residential assistant’s also known as RA’s, came to my apartment door and told me I had until 5 pm to vacate. After expressing that I have nowhere to go, nowhere to put my belongings or no one to help me move, there was no ounce of concern. Ultimately leading them to contacting campus police to interfere due to me not moving quite fast enough, as they assigned my room to another student, without my knowledge.

Fast forward to Monday, August 18,2025, the housing office followed up with me regarding immediate housing assistance in either Laker Hall or Laker Village. Personnel(s) expressed it was limited availability but if I were to pay the application fee for the Fall, then I could be added to the waitlist. The school accepted my $200 payment towards the application fee. I was assigned a room two days later, only to find out after speaking with the Bursars office that until my balance is paid in full, I will not be cleared to move in for the year nor register for any classes.

I am struggling to find work since this has happened, have limited personal items, and gave my last few funds towards my application fee.

This situation has left me depressed, scared and unsure of what’s going to transpire next. I wasn’t prepared for this to take place & it is affecting me mentally.

The hold on my account is in the amount of $3,500. The funds raised will go directly toward covering my outstanding balance at Laker Village helping me get closer to walking the stage come 2026.
