Hi, my name is Taja, and I’m so excited to announce that I’ve been accepted to Spelman College! This fall, I plan to start my freshman year as a Biology major on the Pre-Med track with the goal of becoming an OB-GYN who provides affirming, compassionate care to low-income and underserved communities.
Right now, I’m actually attending the Spelman Women in STEM Summer Program, which has deepened my passion for medicine and confirmed that Spelman is where I belong. But I need help to make it official. Although I’ve received a few scholarships, they don’t come close to covering all of my tuition and fees. I’m still working hard to secure more funding, but I need support now in order to enroll this fall.
About Me:
I have had a scientific curiosity since my first medical bag at 7 years old. Throughout my education, my affection for science has grown to my life assignment.
I’ve recently graduated with honors from Tucker High School in Tucker, GA, with a 3.62 unweighted GPA and 3.95 weighted GPA. I was a dual enrollment student (via Georgia State University) and stayed involved in both academics and my community.
I’ve also always embraced creativity and entrepreneurship—during high school, I launched my own small business, TJ’s Cakes and Cupcakes, where I baked and decorated homemade cupcakes to create sweet experiences for my customers.
My Activities & Leadership:
• Marching/Concert Band (9th–12th): Section Leader (10th–12th)
• Earth Tomorrow Club (11th–12th): VP of Communications, focused on environmental advocacy
• Alpha Kappa Alpha Debutante Program: Coordinated a project collecting over 200 toiletries for women & children
• Science National Honor Society (12th): Focused on academic excellence and research
• BETA Club (10th & 12th): GPA maintenance, tutoring, and community service
• Habitat for Humanity (12th): Volunteered monthly to build homes
• Math Club (12th): Promoted collaborative learning and problem solving
• AP Scholar and Honor Roll Student
I’m proud of the work I’ve put in during high school—balancing academics, leadership, and service with part-time jobs at SeaWorld and Publix—and now I’m ready for this next step.
Why I Need Your Help:
Spelman is more than a college to me—it’s a sisterhood, a legacy, and a launchpad for my career in medicine and advocacy. But I need financial support to make it possible.
Your donation will help cover:
• Tuition and fees
• Housing and meals
• School supplies and books
• Basic college living expenses
How You Can Help:
Any amount you can give will bring me one step closer to Spelman. And if you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page with your network. Every share makes a difference.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story, believe in my goals, and support my future. I can’t wait to represent my community—and Spelman—with pride.
With gratitude and love,
Taja Abigayle Pope
All monies raised go directly to Spelman College on my behalf. Thanks again.
