In 2021, I took a chance on myself and started coaching after being laid off. I felt like I’d found my calling. Coaching is the perfect blend of spiritual direction and practical skill building that my backgrounds in ministry and activism prepared me for. I’m good at it and know that this is what I’m meant to do.
In 2023, I founded Rooted Respite to help burnt out social changemakers reawaken joy and come home to themselves. My clients are amazing, and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to walk with them as they heal. This work has been the most fulfilling work I’ve ever done.
Since 2023, I’ve:
- Helped 20 individual clients in one-on-one coaching come back from burnout.
- Facilitated 19 free monthly community calls, serving 120 people.
- Facilitated burnout prevention workshops for an ERG at an international consulting firm and a national health policy org.
- Spoken at 4 summits and conferences.
- Appeared on several podcasts.
- Keynotes a conference for HR professionals.
I love what I do, and I’m excited to do much more, but the number of clients I get a year doesn’t yet cover what I need to survive.
Without steady income, I’m fighting for survival and my mental health is in shambles. I started looking for full time work in 2024 to bring in income while I build my business, but I haven’t landed a single interview. I’m exhausted but feel like I can’t stop. My survival depends on me being able to work, but I can’t help people heal from burnout when I’m burnt out myself. So, I’m asking for help.
I need help with living expenses while I reimagine what’s possible for myself and Rooted Respite. This work is needed, especially right now, but I need to figure out how to offer it in a way that works for my clients and myself.
The listed amount will cover 5 months of expenses and allow me to hire a lawyer to help me make some decisions about debt I've incurred during this time.
This isn't an easy ask, and I humbly accept and appreciate any help you can offer. I'm hopeful that this is just a blip in my timeline. I will get through this.
Thank you!
