My name is Taira, and I am currently a junior at Clark Atlanta University in the Whitney M. Young Jr. School of Social Work program. I have been given an incredible opportunity to study abroad in Ghana from May 25th through June, alongside my professor and fellow students. We will be participating in community outreach, working directly with local communities to make a positive impact.
What drew me to this experience was my professor’s passion for giving back. She is always observing and supporting her community, and she has inspired me and my classmates to take that same step forward. My mom has also instilled in me the importance of helping others, reminding me that you never know who may need support. These lessons have shaped my commitment to service and my excitement for this journey.
With generous donors covering half the cost, I was able to secure my spot on the trip. However, I still need to raise funds to cover my monthly payments by May, which will go toward travel, lodging, and program expenses. Any support you can offer—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing my fundraiser—means the world to me. Thank you for helping me take this next step in my education and service to others!
