Help Taina Relocate to PR With Her Cats & Start Her Business

Hi, I’m Taina Rain from NYC. A lot of you know me for my love of music, cooking, creating, and cats . My two cats, Jasper and Melo, are my my whole heart! On top of that, I’ve been caring for strays in my neighborhood — feeding them daily and even rescuing black kittens off the street this year. I originally planned to start this fundraiser to cover vet care for the black kittens I rescued off the street, But life shifted, and something bigger came up — preparing for my move.

Right now, I’m preparing for a big transition. My lease is up in April, and every year the rent here has gone up by $300. Next year, it’s set to be more than I can realistically afford. Staying in NYC I’ll still have to come up with first month, deposit, and pet fees adding up quickly. While I’ll always have love for my family, and they support me in other ways, I can’t move back in because of the cats — they need me to continue having my own space. It would break my heart to find a new home for Jasper and Melo, so right now this is not an option for me.

That’s why I’ve made the decision to relocate to Puerto Rico by April 1st, 2026. I truly feel it’s my calling. Puerto Rico connects me back to my roots, gives me a chance to start fresh in a tropical place, and opens the door to the life I’ve been dreaming of. My vision is to launch my food business while continuing to rescue and care for animals out there — creating something bigger than myself while staying true to my culture. There are so many stray animals and it broke my heart.

What Your Support Covers ($6,000 Goal):

• Vet care for the kittens I’ve been helping

• Vet appointments & travel costs for Jasper & Melo ✈️

• Relocation expenses (apartment deposit, pet fees, moving costs)

• A small cushion to keep us safe and stable during the transition & also to finally launch my cooking business! ‍

This year feels like a turning point. I turn 30 on September 30, and stepping into this new decade feels like a rebirth. I want to begin this next chapter with stability, love, and purpose, for myself, for my cats , and for the animals in need. Also, my grandparents haven’t been to PR or a plane in over 20 years and with this move they’ll FINALLY be able to visit. Bittersweet.
