Taiko Kai needs your help attending the Intercollegiate Taiko Invitational (ITI) this year!
We are the Japanese drumming ensemble at the University of Washington. This year, ITI will be hosted by Asayake Taiko from UC San Diego, making it a costly journey for us to travel from Washington down to Southern California. ITI is a unique and significant opportunity for our members to get to know other collegiate taiko players on the West Coast and learn directly from professionals to improve their playing.
What is ITI?
The Intercollegiate Taiko Invitational (ITI) is a soon-to-be 32-year-long tradition held over multiple days (5/23/26 - 5/24/26). Started by Stanford Taiko in 1995, ITI has been held at different colleges and universities every year. This year, Asayake Taiko at UC San Diego will continue the annual ITI tradition, spreading the art of taiko to new and returning players and cultivating the North American taiko community.

How can you help?
By donating, you will directly subsidize the monetary cost of each attending member's airfare. This will allow some of our members who would otherwise not be able to attend to have this opportunity!

$100 - Obliterating Onion
- Ollie will eat an entire raw onion like an apple.
$350 - Milk Mile
- Angie & Keoni will run a mile while drinking milk.
$500 - Last Dab Hot Sauce
- Terresa & Kali will eat the Last Dab hot sauce.
$750 - Tortilla Slap Challenge
- Officers will partake in slapping each other in the face with tortillas.
$900 - Officer Photo Cards
- We will make officer photo cards!
$1,000 - Pacer Test
- Officers put their stamina to the test by running the Pacer Test.
$1,200 - IMA Stairs Relay
- Kali & Ollie go up and down all four flights of stairs in the IMA, the # of times depending on the number of comments on the $1000 reel.
$1,300 - A Lesson in Empathy
- Officers try a period cramp simulator.
$1,500 - Perform Kpop Dance
- Officers will be taught a kpop dance and asked to perform it.
