Help Taerie Recover From Fire Loss

On September 7, 2020, the Beachie Creek Fire destroyed Elkhorn, a group of individually owned cabins in Lyons, Oregon.  For over 30 years, Taerie Bryant has lived and worked at Elkhorn. Her cabin, her barn, her father's car (which she's been restoring to sell) and everything she owned was destroyed. Taerie escaped with her animals (3 horses, 2 cats, 1 dog) and a few possessions including her truck and horse trailer. Lost were paintings her mother (now deceased) had done; her private journals from 50 years of writing; her fan-related items such as CDs and memorabilia, books and fanzines, items from the over 30 years she's worked for San Diego Comic Con; all her horse supplies including winter blankets which will be needed soon; her own clothing and toiletries; her TV; her appliances including stove, refrigerator and washer/dryer; all her furniture, including her bed, computer desk/chair, easy chairs, etc. Everything is gone.

I'm Alayne Gelfand. I've known Taerie for almost 40 years and though I live in southern California, she and I are as close as friends can be. I worry not only for her physical needs but how this will impact her emotionally. I want to help her replace the things not covered by insurance or what most assistance will cover; personal things, comforting things. And though the money I'm trying to raise for her will be a drop in the bucket, it will be a much appreciated drop.

She's currently safe and staying with her sister and brother-in-law where her horses can be kept but there's no shelter for them in the coming rain and snow, so something will have to be built for them soon.

Elkhorn is still employing her so she has a job to return to, but it will be among the ash and devastation that was her home. I'm asking you to help me help her to recover from such a huge loss. She and I will be forever grateful for whatever help you can give.
