Support Taebastian: Double Hip Replacement

Our dear friend, Taebastian, was recently diagnosed with AVN (Avascular Necrosis), an extremely rare and debilitating condition that severely affects both of his hips and his overall body mobility. AVN is the death of bone tissue due to a lack of blood supply, caused by blood clots. This condition has rendered him unable to walk without the assistance of a cane. His right hip is in a state of full collapse, causing bone-on-bone trauma, and his left hip is nearing complete deterioration. This leaves him with debilitating chronic pain and a severe leg imbalance that can only be rectified through surgery.

Unfortunately, Taebastian's initial misdiagnosis led to over a year of persistent pain and limited mobility, which reached a critical point, making everyday activities impossible. In November 2023, he received the correct diagnosis, revealing the severity of his condition. A consultation with a surgeon confirmed the immediate need for a simultaneous bilateral total hip replacement, rescheduled from April 12th to January 26th, 2024, due to the urgency of the situation.

The upcoming surgery involves a complex procedure of removing the heads of his femoral bones and replacing them with titanium implants in each femur, along with new titanium hip joints. The total cost of the surgery amounts to $200k. Unfortunately, he doesn’t qualify for disability and faces out-of-pocket expenses and rehabilitation costs, exceeding $20k.

With limited time to prepare for the surgery, Taebastian’s friends and family are reaching out on his behalf for support.
