Great things sometimes come from hard times! I lost my job, just like thousands if not millions did, back in March of 2020 due to covid shut downs of bars in California. With my wife and I’s first baby on the way and no money coming in I went from working around live music and running a bar to working odd jobs and short term gigs to keep up with rent and planning the arrival of the little guy. Right around the time of my sons arrival the state eased restrictions and allowed bars to open but only with the sale of food items. Not all bars had had kitchens so a lot of pop ups started springing up and teaming up with bars to help each other out  and start making money again. Unfortunately a lot of those pop ups and food trucks were not very good, and were more focused on just getting people back into businesses and not the food itself. I was determined to make a stand of my own and combine the 2 things I enjoyed the most , good quality tacos and death metal! Thus was born Tacos El Metalero. I was raised on tacos, specifically Mexicali and Tijuana style tacos, so it was only natural to chose to focus on those 2 cities for the style of tacos I would make. With support from my wife and friends I went out and bought everything I needed to have a small street vendor set up to place outside of bars and breweries and began selling tacos on street corners and alleys. After a couple of weeks the response was overwhelming but definitely encouraging to continue this venture. Then in November of 2020 they announced another shut down and went out of business because I couldn’t set up out on a public sidewalk legally. Once we were able to go back to work we hit it hard and we were very grateful that people remembered us and kept us busy. Now we want to take this small little stand and make something greater of it and hopefully people will help us get there. We are raising money to help us get a food trailer established and operating so we can reach more people and show that we actually care about how a tacos should taste and blast death metal while doing it!!
