My name is Fantasia and the little boy in the picture is my son, Tabious. Tabious is a very happy, playful 12-year-old boy. He is autistic with fine motor skills; however, he doesn't let that stop him. On December 3, 2019, while Tabious was playing, he fell and hit his mouth on the stairs. This caused him to knock out three teeth, push one tooth all the way back up into the gum, mash the gums upward from the other teeth, and almost take off half of his bottom lip. He also damaged some of his back teeth.
With COVID starting, it made for a much longer process to get his mouth fixed. He has seen two dentists and two specialists now. They have fixed so much in his mouth already. Tabious is now down to the last two procedures and his insurance is now refusing to cover any more of them. Tabious has to have the front four of his teeth fixed still and one pulled back out of the gum line. His insurance will not cover because being a special needs child, he needs to be sedated. If he can’t get these surgeries, he will lose his front top four teeth. He is a 12-year-old special needs boy having a hard enough time with the mouth pain and bullying about his teeth now. As his mother, I worry about what will happen if he loses them and has to finish living his life with those teeth missing. I just want the best for him and for him to have a normal, fun childhood.
The money raised will help us continue with Tabious's surgery and recovery.
