Help Tabbi’s courageous journey ahead!

Oh hi everyone!

My name is Kari Reynolds. I have created this gofundme for my incredibly strong best friend Tabbi Tomlin. For the past 10 years she has been fighting a deadly autoimmune disease called Primary Biliary Cholangitis. It has taken every ounce of her strength to fight this, and it has made it impossible for her to lead a normal life. She has tried every medical avenue to cope, but sadly, she now must resort to a liver transplant. Liver transplants are only completed in Toronto, and so I have set up this gofundme page to help offset some of the expenses that we will incur throughout this process. This will also help with expenses of her live donor and family (when we find a match).

 Although some of the costs of the transplant are covered by insurance, there are many expenses that we will incur, including relocation and accommodation in order to be near the transplant center in Toronto, along with other transportation expenses. After surgery, Tabbi is expected to stay in Toronto for close monitoring to ensure the transplant is not rejected, which will not be covered by insurance. Other expenses include anti-rejection medications that are upwards of $5000 a month, and follow-up medical care after receiving a transplant for the rest of her lifetime. 

What most people don’t know is just how challenging life has been for Tabbi. She has overcome many obstacles despite all of the odds against her to provide for her family. She worked exceptionally hard to establish a career as a labour and delivery nurse. In which she has a huge amount of passion and commitment towards. She strives to be the most loving, kind, compassionate,caring and helpful lady that she can be. Her love for those she surrounds herself with and the patients and their babies that she cares for is a source of great pride for her and are what gives her the most happiness and peace. She would really love to be back at work where she is needed and doing what she’s best at, loving people,helping healing hands that guide newborns entering this world.
