T is an amazing community member, a single parent of a young adult, a person with chronic health conditions and disabilities, a student, and a community worker in the areas of health and service with vulnerable populations. T is someone who for decades has shown up for others, often sharing her home with neighbours who would otherwise be homeless. On a tiny income T makes incredible food, beautiful spaces and is a fashion icon.

A few days ago, T’s home was flooded with sewage and the response from the people responsible was slow, inadequate, and sometimes hostile and has resulted in excessive loss of and damage to T’s possessions. T and her cat have relatively safe, short-term places to stay but a long road ahead.

Friends are raising funds so that T can do the huge amount of work involved in starting over, without the additional stress of figuring out how to pay for it all. Funds are needed for assessment of damage by a qualified plumber, legal representation, professional remediation of what can be saved, replacements of clothing and furniture and official documents, two month’s rent and damage deposit in a new place, two months of medication.

This is something that should not happen to anyone, but is particularly $h!tty thing to happen to someone who is always supporting others. Please join us in giving to support T.
