I am moving from California to Wilmington, North Carolina, hoping for a fresh start. Unfortunately, my move has turned into a nightmare after being tricked by a moving company’s bait and switch tactics. I was originally quoted a reasonable price for the move, but after a walk-through, the cost suddenly increased. When the movers finally arrived, they demanded even more, even though all my items were exactly as listed in the original contract. With my moving costs unexpectedly doubled, I had no choice but to leave all my furniture behind just to make ends meet.

All the money I had carefully saved to cover my first month’s rent and buy a few basic pieces of furniture now has to go to the movers and broker company. I’m left in a new city without the essentials I need to settle in and make my new place feel like home. I rarely ask for help from anyone, but I wasn’t careful when I chose the moving company and now I don’t know what else to do. It would mean so much to me to get a little extra help so I can pay my rent, get some basic furniture, and finally settle into my new home in Wilmington.
