Hi, my name is Sytira, and I am a single mother to my beautiful 12-year-old daughter.
I never imagined I would be in a position where I had to ask for help like this, but today I am facing foreclosure on our home, with a sale date of December 17, 2025. After many months of unanswered calls, the mortgage company has finally agreed to accept $68,000 to stop the foreclosure and allow us to keep our home.
There are many reasons that brought me to this moment—some painful, some humbling, and all deeply personal. I survived a difficult and abusive marriage that ended in a long, draining divorce. During that time, I was injured at my physically demanding job, which led to disabilities and lost income. I battled loneliness, depression, and serious health issues that resulted in hospitalization. Along the way, I also made decisions while I was in survival mode—trying my best to hold everything together for my child.
Asking for help is one of the hardest things I have ever done. I have always been the one who gives, the one who helps others, the one who takes satisfaction in my independence and privacy. But I am learning that strength also means knowing when to reach out.
My marriage wasn’t always painful. There was a time when love felt real and safe. But as things changed, I was treated with disrespect and emotionally worn down. The divorce itself took more from me than I ever expected—mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I lost more than my marriage; I lost pieces of myself. My hair fell out from stress, rejection my confidence went down, and my spirit felt crushed. But the one thing that kept me going was my daughter.
My daughter has been my anchor and my miracle. She has ADHD with sensory challenges and endless energy, which can be demanding, but she is also incredibly loving, imaginative, forgiving, and deeply intuitive. She has a light that warms my heart and eyes that sparkle like stars. She has told me that she chose me as her mother and that I was already perfect in her eyes—even when I only saw my brokenness. She has saved me in more ways than one, including moments when she literally protected me to stop my attacker. She is my reason for living.
I poured everything I had into caring for her, often neglecting myself until my body finally gave out. Working as a postal employee was physically exhausting, and injuries on the job left me misjudged and mistreated by management. My injury pay was withheld, which directly contributed to falling behind on my mortgage and facing foreclosure—twice. The environment became unbearable, and though I loved my coworkers, the job no longer loved me back.
During this time, my health declined. I developed diabetes and high blood pressure and was hospitalized for nearly three days. Those days were some of the loneliest moments of my life. I didn’t recognize myself anymore—physically or emotionally. But by the grace of God, I survived, healed, and was discharged with a renewed sense that I still had a purpose.
Through it all, my faith has carried me. I truly believe God has been present every step of the way—healing both my daughter and me, forgiving my missteps, and understanding that everything I did was to survive and care for my child. I believe He placed this moment in my life not as an ending, but as a turning point.
If you find it in your heart to help us, please know that your support will not be taken lightly or for granted. It will mean stability, safety, and hope for a mother and daughter who have already endured so much. I promise to pay this kindness forward and to be a blessing to others in need.
Thank you for reading my story, for your prayers, and for any support you can give. From the bottom of my heart—thank you.
