My name is Austin Cade, and I’m writing this on behalf of my sister, Syrena.

We are facing a tragedy that no family should ever have to experience. Jacob Thiles, the father of her two young children, is currently in the hospital after suffering a brutal assault where his skull was smashed with a baseball bat. He has undergone three surgeries, and the doctors have told us what no family should ever have to hear: there is nothing more they can do. We are now in the devastating position of simply waiting, praying, and preparing for the worst.

Jake is not just a name in a story — he is the father of two beautiful children who adore him. He is their hero and their safety despite any issues he may have had. These kids are now facing the unimaginable reality of losing their dad at such a young age, and our family is doing everything we can to keep their world from collapsing.

No one prepares for something like this — emotionally, mentally, or financially. The sudden medical emergencies, time away from work, travel costs, the need to support Syrena emotionally and physically, and the long-term future of two children who will grow up without their father… it’s overwhelming. On top of that, there will likely be end-of-life expenses, memorial arrangements, and continued financial support for the kids as they navigate life after this nightmare.
