Hi everyone! My name is Sammy and I became a fur dad 2 years ago.  On September 3, 2021. I had no idea what I was doing or what I was getting myself into. When I was a child the fire department gave me a black lab which my grandparents raised. I loved her like no other and she was the original Symi! When I was in middle school, my grandmother let her out one night, and we never saw her again. I remember that pain like it was yesterday. I swore I’d never get another dog again. We tried a couple of times but gave them back after a day, nothing could replace Symi. Well as I grew up and now into my mid 40’s, my mother who’s now visually impaired lives with me. I travel a lot for work in which I don’t make a ton of money but I’m able to make our lives comfortable with the occasional hiccup which I’m sure most can relate to. So two years ago while eating at my sushi place in town, the bartender says her dog birthed a litter of 10 labs. It immediately took me back to childhood and without thinking I said, is one of them a black female. She said yes, and again without any hesitation, I said, I’ll take her! Two years later, I raised my little girl Symi II to be the sweetest angel on earth who’s full of love and joy like her dad. She also helps my mother as I’m gone so much with work and sometimes weeks if not months at a time. She gives my mom a companion, makes her feel safe and more importantly gives her someone to love and smile with. Symi sleeps in her bed in moms room every night no matter if I’m home or not. Truth be told, she’s moms dog now but I won’t ever admit to it! Well yesterday, August 23, 2023 my little girl was doing her morning zoomies. After we loaded up the car to take mom to a doctors appointment and I noticed Symi didn’t jump in the car like normal. I didn’t think much as I have spoiled her a little bit. When we got home, she got out of the car and she was hobbling. I thought she might have a sand spur or glass or something in a paw because we got out to go bathroom in a new area. So I went inside to check on her and she wouldn’t let me touch her. She was barking, which she NEVER does, so I figured something was wrong. I took her to the VET immediately, and that’s where they tell me she tore her ACL. I was heartbroken for my angel. Symi is the joy of our home. She has brought light in that we hadn’t had in a long time and yes, she is great for me, but more importantly what she does for my mother. Symi really needs your help. Her surgery costs $5600 and that number is flexible based on her reaction to meds and pain after surgery. Please help Symi get her knee fixed and rehabilitated. We thank you and most importantly, Symi thanks you!
