Help Sylvia Stay Warm & Safe this Winter

Many of you know Sylvia from her years of teaching and healing work in both spiritual and dance communities, where she has helped so many over the years. Now that she’s getting older, she finds herself largely on her own, frightened and unable to cover costs for basic needs. Having suffered two concussions, she is having difficulty organizing her thoughts, which is impacting her ability to survive financially. She is working as hard as she is able, but after five years of limited employment, her credit is shot – spent and/or stolen. This is particularly difficult as winter sets in and utility bills soar (turning down the heat is not an option, as even small chills induce violent seizure episodes).  

We often speak of community responsibility for caring for our vulnerable, beloved elders – those who, like Sylvia, have given so much of themselves over the years. Asking for such care can be difficult, especially for folks who've been so fiercely independent throughout their lives.



Right now, aside from financial help, Sylvia needs support in finding ways to create a sustainable future:

• She has a vast amount of art to sell and would welcome reliable help with website development.
• She needs legal help with bancrupty, which should happen sooner than later.
• A live-in home healthcare aide in her home in CA would create a much safer, more home-like environment than her current rooming house situation.
• Help with brainstorming and organizing action for solutions.
 
Sylvia will gladly accept any gifts of funding or assistance that can help put her back on her feet at this stage of life.  Please help in any way that you can.
